Description
Part of The Azrieli Series of Holocaust Survivor Memoirs, this moving volume brings together the childhood stories of Judy Abrams and Eva Felsenburg Marx, two Jewish girls born just months apart in 1937.
Judy grew up in Hungary, while Eva was born in Czechoslovakia. During the Holocaust, both children were separated from their parents and forced to hide their Jewish identities in order to survive. Judy was placed in a convent and given a Christian identity, while Eva was repeatedly sent into hiding under false identities.
Their stories reveal the fear, confusion and remarkable resilience of children caught in circumstances far beyond their understanding. Although their experiences were different, both survived the war and later immigrated to Canada in 1949.
A powerful first-person account of survival, identity, family and childhood during the Holocaust, suitable for readers of history, memoir and Canadian Jewish studies.
